Questions

Q. What types of sessions do you offer?

A. We offer 3 session types;

Cover Girl  // The Cover Girl is all inclusive beauty session with professional hair & makeup application. This portrait experience is unrivaled with both in-studio and downtown Portsmouth backdrop options. The Cover Girl session is meant for a high school senior, tween, or a beauty makeover portrait. We conduct a consultation for these sessions to make sure you’re fully prepared.

Family & Guys // This session is in-studio or outdoors typically for families or high school senior boys. To ensure the portrait has a nice flow with all of the family members we will go over wardrobe suggestions and location options.

Executive & Personal Branding // Portraits are offered for business professionals, model comp cards, and actors. We offer wardrobe guidance with these sessions.

Q. What do you charge for your sessions?

A. We collect a retainer fee to commission a session and secure your date and time. This is non-refundable and covers your experience, and the time and talent of the artists. Depending on your session needs we may need to collect a minimum to commission your portrait.

Q. I don’t know how to pose!

A. You don’t need to worry about how to pose yourself. We pose you. We’ll work on moving your shoulders, tilting your head, moving your chin out, placing your hands, shifting balance to make you look the best.

Q. What products do you offer?

A. We keep it simple and offer gorgeous statement wall art, oil & watercolor portraits, and stunning handmade photographic coffee table books.

Q. Do you offer payment plans?

A. Yes. We can split up your payments and accept all credit cards.

Q. What is a senior portrait session?

Seniors? What? Aren’t those people over 65? Yes, they are. But they are also 17-year olds about to embark on a ride of their life. Senior portraits are meant for high school juniors. Typically these sessions occur May of junior year through September of senior year in order to meet yearbook deadlines in October. We take care of submitting your image to your school for you. We also have plenty of high school seniors who come in after their senior yearbook submission date to ensure they have documented this final year at home. This is truly the year before your family as you know it changes.

Q. What is a tween portrait session?

Tween portraits or tenager sessions are meant for those in between years. This is a fantastic time to document a changing child. They certainly aren’t toddlers anymore and are on the cusp of becoming a teenager. We recommend a session at ages 9, 12, and 15 and again when they are going into their senior year in high school. Hair and makeup services are optional for this age group.

Q. What are you going to do with my images?

A. Your photos will only be used for studio promotion and for your enjoyment. We hang portraits in the studio that are representative of Mallory Parkington’s work. We take thousands of images a year and wish we could do more with each and every picture. Your favorite images should be in your possession for your enjoyment and posterity.

Q. Do you provide digital files?

A. We provide digital web sharing files with a minimum purchase.
